Men’s Hour: time to recognise J4MB exists?

I’m increasingly being asked why I’ve not been interviewed on the BBC radio show Men’s Hour. I reply that I’ve sought the attention of the presenter, Tim Samuels, in the past – but without success. He’s made numerous pro-feminist statements over time, so the programme isn’t the counter to Woman’s Hour which so many men would like. In one particularly depressing edition of the Radio Times, Samuels was roundly praised by one of the stalwarts of Woman’s Hour, Jenni Murray:

I can’t find contact details for Tim Samuels on the BBC website, so I’m about to contact her agent at United Agents, Rosemary Scoular, through her assistant Aoife Rice arice@unitedagents.co.uk. If you’d like to hear me interviewed on Men’s Hour, I’d ask you to send her an email to that effect. Thank you.

The content of my email will be something along the lines of:

I lead the political party Justice for men & boys (and the women who love them http://j4mb.org.uk and I’m increasingly being asked why I’ve never appeared on Men’s Hour. British men collectively pay 72% of the income taxes paid in the UK, and women only 28%. Yet men (and boys) are ever more assaulted by the actions and inactions of the state, and we outline 18 areas in our public consultation document http://j4mb.wordpress.com/our-public-consultation-exercise-2/.

Since we announced the registration of J4MB four months ago, I’ve appeared on about 15 BBC radio and TV programmes including Woman’s Hour, Daily Politics, The Jeremy Vine Show... The audio and video files are here http://j4mb.wordpress.com/youtube-video-and-audio-files/.

We’re planning to contest the top 30 Conservative marginal seats in 2015, and recently started a 60-day campaign to raise £1,000 to fund our third candidate for that election. We reached the target in just 22 days.

Might I suggest it’s about time Men’s Hour recognised the existence of our party, and invited me for an interview? Thank you.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.
